Abstract. The Republic of Uzbekistan and its economy have been developing very rapidly over the past decade. However, the average per capita incomes of the state’s residents are at a low level, below the global average. This problem is becoming more complicated due to the very high population growth rates of the republic. With this in mind, and to solve this problem, the President of the Republic, after a detailed preliminary review, approved the strategy “Uzbekistan-2030”. This strategy contains both the goals and the main tasks facing the country. The strategy assigns a very important role to the agricultural sector of the republic and its development. Its specificity consists in a very high dependence on the state of the country’s water resources. At the same time, the main role is assigned to the development and adoption of measures aimed at more efficient use of the water resources at the disposal of the republic. The purpose of the study was to identify innovative methods for the development of the agricultural sector of the republic. Research results are identification of modern technical and technological innovations that allow for the intensive development of agricultural production in the republic. Their implementation, in turn, requires increased amounts of electric energy consumed in the agricultural production of the republic, which also involves the introduction of appropriate energy-saving innovations. At the same time, the strategy provides for the establishment of mutually beneficial relations between the republic and neighboring countries, including the Republic of Afghanistan, in the rational use of shared water resources. The work uses general scientific research methods. The scientific novelty of the research consists in identifying innovative methods for the development of the agricultural sector of the republic, as well as in highlighting the shortcomings of the development strategy of this area. These include the absence of a special section in the strategy dedicated to the development of the agricultural sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the most important targets for the production of basic types of agricultural products and their processed products. This necessitates making appropriate additions to the strategy “Uzbekistan-2030”.
