Abstract. The comfort of rural residents in the extreme conditions of the country's northeast directly depends on the level of water availability. Given Yakutia's vast territory, one of the region's distinctive features is the unevenness of water availability. While approximately two-thirds of the republic's settlements are located along major rivers and their tributaries, and therefore experience no water supply issues, the remaining rural areas, due to their geographical location, rely primarily on artificial reservoirs created by low-pressure hydraulic structures. The purpose of the research is using the example of the Zarechnaya agroclimatic zone of Yakutia, to assess the role of water supply in improving the level of living comfort in rural areas. Methods. The research methodology utilizes a systems approach and theoretical principles of water management science. Statistical and comparative analysis of data from scientific literature, open statistical sources, and water management regulations, as well as economic comparison methods, were used. The scientific novelty of the research lies in identifying key areas of influence of the level of water availability in rural areas with an assessment of the socio-economic potential for growth in agricultural production and the impact of water availability on the life support of territories. Research results. Studies have shown that the Zarechnaya group of municipal districts in Yakutia is characterized by significant socioeconomic potential, driven by positive demographic trends and the population's interest in living in rural areas. A key factor influencing the gross municipal product and agricultural output, as well as the overall livelihoods of municipalities, is the availability of water, which depends on the technical condition of low-pressure water management facilities.
