Abstract. Agrotourism is a strategic direction for diversifying the agro-industrial complex in order to increase investment attractiveness. The purpose of this article is to assess the socio-economic effects of agrotourism as a tool for diversifying the main economic activities, identify the role of grant support for agricultural producers in implementing successful practices for the integrated development of rural areas, and analyze the legal framework for agrotourism in Russia. The work uses complex methods: analysis of current legislation (Federal Laws No. 132- FZ and No. 264-FZ, regulatory acts on support for agro-tourism); statistical and analytical analysis of the results of state support and agro-tourism development programs; marketing research of demand, including the results of all-Russian surveys and situational analysis of agro-tourism industry entities; comparative assessment and grouping of rural areas by their potential for agro-tourism development using integral indices. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the assessment of the environmental, economic, and social effects of agro-tourism, primarily through the lens of new grant support mechanisms; in the introduction of the author’s classification of agrotourism projects and the identification of organizational models for the development of agro-tourism as a basis for the diversification of the main activity of agricultural organizations. The main results of the study, as presented in the article, demonstrate that the support of agro-tourism has become an effective tool for increasing investment attractiveness, revitalizing rural areas, and improving the quality of life for the local population. There is a positive trend in rural families’ own income and the diversification of their economic activities.

Keywords: agrotourism, diversification of economic activities, infrastructure and economic development of rural areas, and comprehensive development of rural areas
