Abstract. The purpose is to determine the effectiveness of the organic form of selenium in the diets of lactating goats to enhance their productivity. A scientific and economic experiment was conducted at the agricultural enterprise of the family farm “Koza v sarafane” (Kolomenskiy urban district of the Moscow region) in 2024. Research tasks are to study the impact of feeding organic selenium on milk productivity, milk quality parameters, rumen digestion indicators, blood biochemistry, and economic efficiency. Methods. The study was conducted on two groups of lactating goats, each consisting of 20 animals, selected based on age, live weight, milk yield level, and fat and protein content in milk. The basic feeding ration for lactating Saanen goats with a live weight of 45 kg and a daily milk yield of 3.7 kg included 17.8 MJ of metabolizable energy, 290 g of digestible protein, and 2300 g of crude fiber, including 290 g of starch. The sugar-to-protein ratio in the diet was 0.7. Each energy conversion unit (ECU) contained 162.9 g of digestible protein. The experimental group received an additional organic selenium supplement as part of the compound feed at a dosage of 0.3 mg/kg of dry matter, administered once daily before morning milking. Results. The use of organic selenium increased milk productivity by 17.1 % compared to the control group. Over the experimental period, the average fat content in milk increased by 0.3 % and protein content by 0.1 % compared to the control group after feeding the tested supplement. The economic efficiency analysis of using selenomethionine in the diet of lactating goats showed an increase in profit from milk sales per animal during the experimental period by 41,800 RUB, which is 34.8 % higher than the control. Scientific novelty. The organic form of selenium was tested for the first time on lactating Saanen goats.
