Abstract. The article presents the results of studying the effect of foliar top dressing with water-soluble mineral fertilizers containing trace elements on the seed productivity of alfalfa. The purpose of the study was to study the effect of water–soluble mineral fertilizers with chelated trace elements on the structure of seed herbage and the yield of alfalfa seeds, to determine the percentage of fertility and self-fertility in the conditions of the Middle Urals. Materials and methods. The research was conducted in 2023-2024. in the Ural Research Institute of Agricultural Sciences, a branch of the Ural Branch of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in a two-factor field experiment according to methodological guidelines. Scientific novelty. For the first time in the conditions of the Middle Urals, the effect of water-soluble mineral fertilizers with chelated trace elements on the structure of seed herbage and the yield of alfalfa seeds was studied. Results. Micronutrients in chelated or organomineral form are characterized by the highest bioavailability for plants. Their adaptability in application and high biological activity ensure the rapid incorporation of trace elements into metabolic pathways and physiological processes. Top dressing of plants increased the number of generative stems by 2‒24 pcs. (1.8–22 %), the number of brushes per stem increased by 8.4–19.7 pcs. (24.4–57.3 %), the number of beans in brushes increased by 24.5–35.1 pcs. (52.7–75.5 %), the weight of seeds per 1 m2 increased by 3.2–7.6 g (35.5–84.4 %). Foliar top dressing increased alfalfa seed yield by 0.19–0.82 c/ha (12.7–55 %). The maximum yield was recorded when using potassium metaborate, when plants were treated twice (at the stage of regrowth and during budding): seed yield increased by 0.82 c/ha (55 %).
