Abstract. The results of a long-term study of economic and biological indicators of Volga plum varieties in the conditions of the Oryol region are presented. The studies were conducted in 2002–2015. The objects of research were 6 plum varieties of different origins and one control variety. The purpose of the research was to study the economic and biological indicators of plum varieties in the Oryol region, taking into account the weather and climatic characteristics of the winter period. Methods. The research was carried out according to the “Program and methodology for the selection of fruit, berry and nut crops”. Statistical processing of the obtained data was carried out according to the method of B. A. Dospehov. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the identified patterns and features of the manifestation of economic and biological indicators of plum varieties under unstable environmental conditions and the influence of stress factors. Results. According to the research results, it was revealed that the plum varieties Dubovchanka, Tatarskaya Zheltaya, Volgogradskaya, Volzhanka, Zolotoe Runo showed positive results in terms of productivity indicators (the degree of flowering and fruiting, as well as yield). The plum varieties Volgogradskaya and Volzhanka showed resistance to clusterosporiosis and moniliosis at a level higher than the control, in addition, the Dubovchanka variety was affected by clusterosporiosis less than the control. At the same time, all the studied varieties did not have disease damage higher than 2.0 points, which allows them to be classified as highly resistant. During research, the Ten’kovskaya Golubka, Dubovchanka, and Zolotoe Runo varieties showed high winter hardiness in field conditions. In addition, almost all studied varieties had a high level of general plant condition. It turned out that the level of freezing of plum plants has a high level of negative correlation with the average winter temperature and the sum of temperatures in winter.
