Abstract. The use of electronic maps and field history books, the use of modern data analysis methods make it possible to establish the influence of soil characteristics and technological factors on crop yields, and to make decisions to improve the efficiency of farming systems. The purpose of the study is to conduct a systematic cognitive analysis of the data from the electronic field history book on the influence of soil and technological factors on the yield of spring wheat using the example of the production fields of the Kurgan Research Institute of Agricultural Sciences. Methods. The specificity of the analysis of the field history book is that all independent variables have a very low degree of formalization, whereas the result of the influence of these factors – yield – is measured on a numerical scale. Therefore, with the traditional method of data analysis, automated system-cognitive analysis is used in the work, in which the comparability of data processing presented in different types of scales and different units of measurement is ensured by metrization of nominal scales, i.e. increasing their degree of formalization to the level of numerical scales. The scientific novelty lies in the application of the system-cognitive method in the analysis of data from the field history book. Results. Of the soil parameters, the humus content of 4–5 % had the strongest effect on increasing the yield of spring wheat. The values of other indicators were lower, in descending order: acidity with pH 5.35–5.7, total potassium content – 150-200 mg/kg, mobile phosphorus content – 50- 100 mg/kg, soil type – ordinary chernozem, soil granulometric composition – heavy loam. Of the technological factors, steam has the greatest importance for obtaining high yields. The second most important period is the sowing period – from May 10 to May 20. The economic assessment complements the analysis and makes it possible to make a more informed choice of crop cultivation technologies.
