Abstract. The purpose of the study was to develop a model of the quantitative relationship between the costs of ensuring the quality of agricultural products and the profit from sales of these products under a certain market situation in order to be able to select the required quality level and increase the social significance of the products on this basis. Modeling required choosing products whose quality changes at each stage of the production and sales chain, for which agricultural products were recognized as the most appropriate. The research methods included economic and mathematical modeling and mathematical analysis. The developed model was based on the mathematical relationship between the costs of quality and sales profit at different sales volumes depending on the quality level of the products. The limit for further increasing the costs of quality was such a sales volume and the corresponding quality level at which the profit increase ceased. In this case, the magnitude of the increase in sales volume was dependent on the coefficient of its sensitivity to the quality level, since the improvement in product characteristics is perceived by consumers in different product markets differently. Determining the amount of costs of quality was reduced to solving a mathematical problem of finding the extremum of the function of sales profit after finding the partial derivative with respect to the amount of costs of quality. The scientific novelty of the study consists in the application of a new approach to the selection of the quality level of agricultural products based on the costs of quality and the corresponding profit from sales, which makes it possible to take into account the social significance of the products when making such a choice. The result of the study was a model of the relationship between the costs of quality assurance and the corresponding profit from sales at an initially determined quality level of agricultural products, which forms their social significance.
