Abstract. The main task of any branch of science is to obtain new scientific knowledge, the main features of which are: 1) general significance, 2) need, 3) consistency, 4) validity. At the same time, the concept of science in the scientific works of scientists is considered more widely: science as a system of knowledge; science as a specific activity; science as a social institution; science as a cultural and historical phenomenon. In the above context, this article deals with the agricultural law science as one of the branches of the Russian science. Agricultural legal science-the science of finding the best forms of legal support for the implementation of the agricultural policy of the state. It is based on a comprehensive knowledge of the most effective ways to influence the development of agricultural relations. Ideally, scientific knowledge should anticipate activities in all sectors of the economy, including the agricultural one. The changes taking place in the agricultural sector today are designed not only to create an efficient agriculture capable of consistently providing the country with food and agricultural raw materials, but also to contribute to the solution of social problems of rural areas. The development of Russian agriculture in the context of modern geo-economic transformations associated with economic sanctions against the Russian Federation demanded an accelerated solution to the problem of import substitution of agricultural products, raw materials and food. At the same time, the sanctions had a stimulating effect on the scientific and technological development of agriculture and the entire agro-industrial complex, which allowed to enter the international agro-food market through the production of agricultural products for export. These circumstances will demand a new approach to the development of domestic agricultural and legal science.
