The effect of organic forms of selenium and iodine on the hematological and biochemical blood profile of Smena 9 broiler chickens

Abstract. The trace elements selenium and iodine in organic forms are promising metabolic and immune status modifiers in poultry. The purpose is to conduct a comparative analysis of the effects of Selenium-Active (selenoxanthene) and Yod-Aktiv (iodine casein) on the dynamics of hematological and biochemical blood parameters in broiler chickens. Methods. The study involved dividing Smena 9 broiler chickens into three groups of 40 chickens each. The control group received a basic feed, while the experimental groups received the same diet supplemented with Selen-Aktiv (50 μg Se / bird /day, days 1–14) or Yod-Aktiv (100 μg I / bird/day, days 1–14). Hematological and biochemical blood tests were performed at days 10 and 30. The scientific novelty of this study lies in its shift from simply replenishing micronutrient deficiencies to targeted regulation of metabolism to create products with desired properties. Current research focuses on the synergistic interactions of organic supplements, which opens up opportunities for fine-tuning physiological processes in poultry. The study results showed that by day 30, the Selenium-Active group had a significant increase in hemoglobin concentration (by 16.3 %, p < 0.05) and hematocrit (by 23.8 %, p < 0.01). In the Yod-Aktiv group, a significant increase in hematocrit (by 22.0 %, p < 0.05) and pronounced pseudo-eosinophilia (+137.7 %, p < 0.05) were noted. Both drugs increased platelet count by 2.5–2.7 times (p < 0.01–0.001). In the Yod-Aktiv group, AST activity by day 30 was significantly lower than the control by 19 % (p < 0.05).
