Abstract. The purpose of this study was to analyze the chemical composition and quality of feed harvested in 2024 and compare the obtained data with the requirements of GOSTs (R 55452-2021, R 55986-2022) and other regulatory documents governing the quality of feed for farm animals. Methods. A comprehensive methodology was used to achieve the set goals. To assess the nutritional value of feed, zootechnical analysis was used in accordance with GOST 31640-2012. In addition, a chemical analysis of feed was carried out using the following standards: GOST 32044.1-2012 (determination of nitrogen), GOST 31675-2012 (determination of fiber), GOST 13496.15-2016 (detection of the concentration of crude fat) and GOST 32045-2012 (determination of ash content). The obtained data were analyzed using variation statistics methods using Microsoft Excel. Scientific novelty of the study lies in the use of modern indicators to assess the nutritional value of local feeds in the Vologda region: DVE – intestinally digestible protein, OEB – unstable protein balance, nXP – intestinally digestible protein, NEL – net energy of lactation, RFV – relative value of bulk feed, VOS – digestibility of organic matter and FOS – fermentable organic matter, which will allow developing more effective recommendations for agricultural producers. Results. The protein content in bulk feeds varies from 11.90 to 15.23 %. The content of crude fiber ranges from 27.10 to 29.68 %. The content of acid-detergent fiber (ADF) is within 34.39–42.25 % (with the norm of 34.00–40.00 %), neutral-detergent fiber (NDF) from 48.40 to 58.94 % (with the norm of 47.00–63.00 %). The values of digestible organic matter (VOS) are 635.70 to 695.90 g/kg with the norm (680–720 g/kg). Protein digestible in the intestine (DVE) varies from 55.88 to 83.06 g/kg. In general, the presented data indicate the need for a careful approach to the selection and use of bulk feeds.
